Abstract
1412682 Container closures MARDON PELOREX Ltd 5 Feb 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5574/73 Addition to 1379123 Heading B8T [Also in Division F1] Apparatus for pressurizing and sealing a propellant charged aerosol dispenser is similar to that of Specification 1,379,123, but the closure member is secured to the container open end by a mechanical interlock instead of by welding. After filling a container C with concentrate and loosely placing a closure 251A thereon, it is fed to the apparatus. The closure 251A is lifted off the container, which is then evacuated of air and the propellant introduced prior to replacing the closure. The container body and closure are then axially urged together between tool 172A and high pressure cylinder (56), Fig. 2 (not shown), so that annular bead 254A on closure 251A yields and is forced into an annular groove in the container wall 240A and compressed against gasket 246A to provide a fluidtight seal. The bead and the groove or the closure member and container body may be interchanged.
