Abstract

1412288 Furniture joints ULM FITTINGS Ltd 5 Dec 1973 [7 Dec 1972] 56608/72 Heading F2M A connection between two furniture components, e.g. a horizontal shelf S and a vertical panel P, comprises two blocks 10, 11 which are adapted, as by screws passed through bores 13, 17, respectively, to be secured to components P, S, respectively, one block 10 having transversely elongated apertures or recesses 12 in a face F which is adapted to be engaged by an opposing face of block 11 when the two blocks are brought into juxtaposition during assembly of the components, the apertures 12 receiving dowel pins 16 on the other block 11 so that relative lateral movement can occur between the blocks, and one or more bolts B and nuts N passed through bores 14, 18 in the blocks with sufficient lateral play to allow the relative lateral movement between the blocks prior to tightening. Preferably the opposing faces of the blocks are roughened or serrated.
