Abstract

1291151 Furniture joints M & S SHIFRIN Ltd 28 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 26225/70 Heading A4H [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] "Particle" board panels A, B are connected by an angle block 10, one arm 11 thereof having an integral cylindrical spigot portion 12 formed with teeth or serrations 13 and an at least partially tapered passage 14, the other arm 16 having a counter sunk screw hole 17 opening into a recess 18 that receives the head 19 of a spigot piece 20, said spigot piece 20 having teeth or serrations 21 and a pilot hole 23. Spigot portion 12 is expanded in a passage b in panel B by a steel pin 15, peg or screw, forced into passage 14, teeth 13 being driven into the passage wall. Spigot piece 20 is similarly expanded in a passage a in panel A by a wood-screw 22, pin or peg, entered through hole 17 and driven into hole 23. The arms may have more than one integral spigot portion 12 and spigot piece 20. The spigot portion 12 and piece 20 may be slotted to facilitate expansion. The block 10 is of nylon, metal or a metal alloy.
