1411903 Adjustable beds chairs settees H BERGENWALL 25 April 1973 19570/73 Heading A4J The angle between the head and intermediate sections of a bed having three pivotally interconnected sections 8, 9, 10 may be set at a desired angle which is maintained when the sections are pivoted relative to a base frame 1, 2 by connecting the foot end of the intermediate section 9 to the head section 8 via an adjustable length link 21, 22, to the head section being pivoted about its connection 14 with the base frame by a telescopic power driven unit 43 having one part 44 pivotally connected to the base and the other part 42 pivotally connected via a lug 40 to the adjustable link. The foot section 10 may be connected to the adjustable link by a rod 35 pivotally connected at one end to the foot section 10, slidably received in a sleeve pivotally connected to a depending lug on the adjustable link. The other end 37 of the rod 35 is abutment with the lug 40 which limits the extent to which the foot section pivots downwardly relative to the intermediate section under its own weight or the weight of an occupant.
