Abstract

1411137 Perfluoroalkyl iodides HOECHST AG 13 Dec 1972 [24 Dec 1971] 57466/72 Heading C2C Perfluoroalkyl iodides of the general formula C 2 F 5 (CF 2 -F 2 ) n I in which n is an integer of 1 to 10 are obtained by reacting CF 2 = CF 2 with C 2 F 5 (CF 2 -CF 2 ) x I in which x is 0 or an integer of 1 to 9 in the presence of a catalyst of general formula (C m F 2m+1 COO) 2 in which m is an integer from 2 to 10. The reaction is preferably performed at 25-65‹ C. at a pressure of normal to 8 atmosphere gauge using 0.02-0.7% by weight of catalyst based on the weight of telogen dissolved in telogen for ease of addition to the reaction mixture.
