Abstract

1408813 Hydrodesulphurization catalysts GULF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO 14 June 1973 [14 June 1972] 28392/73 Heading C5E A catalyst to be used for the hydrodesulphurization of less than 11,918 litres of a crude or reduced crude oil per kilogram of catalyst consists of at least one Group VI metal (i.e. Cr, Mo and/or W) and at least one Group VIII metal (i.e. Fe, Co and/or Ni) supported on alumina and has a pore volume of at least 0À4 c.c./gram, a first pore radius at which onehalf of the total pore volume is filled with liquid nitrogen in an isothermal nitrogen desorption measurement and a second pore radius at which one-half of the total pore volume is filled with liquid nitrogen in the preceding adsorption portion of the same isotherm measurement; said first pore radius being 40-58 Š and said second pore radius being at least 15 Š higher than said first pore radius. The: hydrodesulphurization can be carried out at 343-482‹ C. and a hydrogen partial pressure of 52À5- 350 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>.
