Abstract

1351786 Desulphurizing natural gas AQUITAINECHIMIE 25 Aug 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 39929/71 Heading C5E Liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons, e.g. natural gas, are desulphurized by contacting them with a porous mineral impregnated with divalent copper oxide deposited from an aqueous solution of an ammonia copper complex. The contacting takes place at room temperature and preferably under a pressure of from 2 to 100 bars. The mineral may be silica, silico-aluminate, pumice, kieselguhr, montmorillonite, kaolin, Florida fuller's earth, attapulgite or infusorial earth, and in a specific example is activated trihydrated alumina.
