Abstract

1408599 Web detectors MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 10 Nov 1972 [13 Nov 1971] 52134/72 Heading B8R A rotary printing press having a pair of blanket cylinders 1, 2, Fig. 1, printing both sides of a web 3 is provided behind the blanket cylinders with a web break detector disposed on each side of the web and externally of the longitudinal edges of the web and formed by two photo-electric sensors 6, 7 each sensor comprising a pair of light sources 10, 10<SP>1</SP> and a pair of photo-electric cells 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, the beams from the sources 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, being inclined at different small angles with respect to the plane of the web so that they intersect each other. The sensors may be mounted on adjustable brackets 8, 9 bolted to a machine frame 15 by means of slots 12, 13 and screws (not shown). The planes of the crossing beams may be inclined at any angle in the web plane.
