Abstract

1441719 Forwarding sheets ALBERTFRANKENTHAL AG 4 July 1974 [7 Aug 1973] 29707/74 Heading B8R Between the grippers 6 of the take-up cylinder in the folder of a rotary printing press there are provided two apertures 10 and 11 offset relative to one another in the peripheral direction of the cylinder. Each aperture is associated with a photo-cell detector such that, when a sheet is gripped, if either the front aperture (with reference to the feed direction) is covered by the leading edge of a sheet or the rear aperture is uncovered the machine is stopped and a cutter actuated for cut off the trailing portion of the gripped sheet. The apertures may be optically connected to the photo-cells by light guides (12 and 13, Figs. 2-4, not shown). In an alternative embodiment the aperture may have light sources and the photo-cells may be disposed outside the cylinder.
