Abstract

1,238,254. Cutting apparatus. JAGENBERG-WERKE A.G. 13 Feb., 1969 [24 Feb., 1968], No. 7849/69. Heading B4B. A cutting device for cutting transversely a travelling web of material comprising a rotatable roll 1 having a cutter 3 mounted on a carrier 11 which is adjustable in order to bring the cutter into or out of its effective cutting circle 13. The carrier 11 is mounted on a flat surface 9 formed on the roll and is normally held against a stop 15 so that the cutter 3 is maintained on the cutting circle 13 in which it co-operates with a fixed blade 4. A second cutter 2 is mounted in a carrier 10 which is fixed to the roll. In order to prevent the cutter 3 from cutting, clamping screws (16, Fig. 5) are released and the cutter then moved out of the cutting circle by means of an adjusting screw 17.
