1408360 Liquid detergent compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 27 Dec 1973 [26 Dec 1972] 59784/73 Heading C5D Homogeneous liquid detergent compositions, suitable for the removal of food soils from hard surfaces, comprise: (a) from 3% to 40% by weight of a water-soluble organic detergent selected from sodium C 8 _ 20 alkyl glyceryl ether sulphonate; ammonium 2-acetoxytridecane-1- sulphonate; ammonium #-methoxyoctadecyl sulphonate; the ammonium salt of sulphated condensation product of C 10 _ 20 fatty alcohol with per mole, from 1 to 10 moles of ethylene oxide; the condensation product of nonyl phenol with, per mole, about 9À5 moles of ethylene oxide; the condensation product of coconut fatty alcohol with, per mole, about 6 moles of ethylene oxide; the condensation product of a secondary fatty alcohol containing about 15 carbon atoms with, per mole, about 9 moles of ethylene oxide; 3- (N,N - dimethyl - N - alkylammonio) - propane- 1 - sulphonate and 3 - (N,N - dimethyl - N- alkylammonio) - 2 - hydroxypropane - 1 - sulphonate, in both of which compounds the alkyl group averages 14À8 carbon atoms in length; 3 - (N,N - dimethyl - N - hexadecylammonio)- propane - 1 - sulphonate: 3 - (N,N - dimethyl- N - hexadecylammonio) - 2 - hydroxypropane- 1 - sulphonate; 3 - (N - dodecylbenzyl - N,N- dimethylammonio) - propane - 1 - sulphonate; (N - dodecylbenzyl - N,N - dimethylammonio)- acetate; 3 - (N - dodecylbenzyl - N,N - dimethylammonio) propionate; 6 - (N - dodecylbenzyl- N,N - dimethylammonio) hexanoate; (N,N- dimethyl-N-hexadecylammonio)acetate; amine oxides of the general formula R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>N#0, where R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group of from 10 to 18 carbon atoms and R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are each an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group of from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and mixtures thereof; (b) from 2% to 30% by weight of a water-soluble organic sequestering builder; (c) from 2% to 25% by weight of a phase modifier surfactant ingredient selected from water-soluble salts of (i) sulphonated C 8 -C 22 fatty acids; (ii) compounds of the general formula: wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms; R 2 represents hydrogen or a C 1 _ 4 alkyl group, R 3 stands for hydrogen, C 1 _ 4 alkyl or -OH, whereby the total number of carbon atoms of R 2 and R 3 is at most 4; X represents -O-; -S-; -SO-; -SO 2 -; or -SCH 2 -; and M is a water-soluble cation; and (iii) mixtures thereof; whereby the ratio of component (b) to component (c) is from 6 : 1 to 1 : 6; and (d) water. Component (b) may be a salt of mellitic, citric, polyacrylic, benzene pentacarboxylic or nitriloacetic acids. The fatty acids from which component (c) (i) may be derived are those of kernel, babasan kernel, tallow and hydrogenated coconut oil. Component (c) (iii) may be the ammonium salt of α-mephopalmitic acid. The compositions may comprise up to 15% by weight of a hydrotrope such as ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, and salts of toluene sulphonic acid, benzene sulphonic acid, xylene sulphonic acid and cumene sulphonic acid.
