Abstract

1408332 Internally meshing gear-pumps; cleaning ALFA LAVAL A B 15 Aug 1973 [18 Aug 1972] 38617/73 Heading FIF In an internally meshing gear-pump, means are provided for withdrawing the pinion 10 axially from the ring gear 11 so that cleaning fluid can flow substantially unobstructed from the inlet 7 to the outlet, the ring gear 11 sealingly engaging by its periphery a body 1 and the pinion 10 being rotatably journalled on a projection 14 of a pistonlike wall member 3 which is slidable in a cylinder 2 fixed to body 1, so that hydraulic fluid can be fed to chamber 28 between a piston 24 attached to member 3 and a stationary wall 21 to move the pinion with member 3 from the operative position of Fig. 1 to the inoperative, cleaning, position of Fig.2. The pinion is restored to its operative position by applying hydraulic pressure to chamber 22 between wall 21 and member 3.
