Abstract

A plunger working in a guide slides in a chamber connected to a hydraulic fluid pressure accumulator, and to a hydraulic fluid source in the fully withdrawn plunger position by a make-up pipe. A main annular lip seal is mounted on the chamber inner wall in line with the plunger guide and near the plunger and in the fully withdrawn position of the latter. The make-up pipe is shut off by the lip clamping against the plunger after this has moved slightly from the fully withdrawn position. Thus a hydraulic chamber of diameter slightly greater than the plunger can be used, and the guide is permanently lubricated by the hydraulic fluid.
