Abstract

Trolly heads and pulleys; devices for retaining collectors; controlling arrangements for collectors; conductors for electricity. - Two elevated conductors 10 are engaged by a collector comprising an H-shaped frame 0, Fig. 1, of insulating-material, having four tubular casings 1 which support tubes 2 carrying pins 3 for the wheels 4, which are in the same plane as the conductors. The wheels engaging one conductor are connected together and to one wire of the supply lead 13. The connecting-lead 12 is secured to the casings 1 or to brushes fixed to the pins 3 and engaging the wheels 4. The pins S slide in grooves 5 in the casings 1, and opposite pins are pressed either apart or together by springs 6. Guards 19, Fig. 2, are carried by the pins 3 to prevent displacement of the wheels, should the springs break, and in winter the guards may be replaced by elastic blades to sweep away snow and ice. At the supports, Fig. 5, each conductor is split into two branches 10' which are fixed to a clamp 15 having a stem 15' passing through either an insulator 16 and a wooden &c. arm 17 on the pole 14, or a stirrup 21, Fig. 6, secured to the arm 17. To prevent the lead 13 engaging the wheels 4, and also to prevent short-circuiting between the wheels due to jets of water, the frame 0 is provided with projections 20 of insulating- material. The grooves in the wheels 4, Fig. 2, are concave, and the shoulders differ in size.
