Abstract

1407611 Preparation of virus particles in host fungi BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 4 Jan 1973 [5 Jan 1972] 375/72 Heading C6F A process for the preparation of a fungal colony which is infected with chosen doublestranded ribonucleic acid virus particles comprises contacting previously isolated double-stranded ribonucleic acid virus particles of fungal origin with fungal cells of opposite mating types or with opposite gametes, thereby infecting at least some of the resultant zygotes with the virus particles, and thereafter cultivating the infected zygotes to produce a fungus which is infected with the virus particles. The virus particles of fungal origin may be derived from an infected member of the species Penicillium or Aspergillus, while the fungal cells of opposite mating types may be yeast cells.
