Abstract

1407336 Cable glands HAWKE CABLE GLANDS Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 5316/73 Heading H2E A multiple-cable gland comprises a packing member consisting of a resilient body disposed under compression between two parallel plates, two or more bolts extending through the plates and body, a nut on the free end of each bolt and a spring between the nut and outer face of the adjacent plate. Two neoprene blocks 10, 12 are retained between metal plates 22, 24 by nuts 28 and bolts 26, the springs 32 beneath the nuts being covered by a respective cup 30. Semi-circular recesses 20 in each block define a bore for receiving a bolt to hold the member in the gland frame, (not shown). Spring washers may be used in lieu of the springs 32. In use, a plurality of packing members are held by a compression plate within a rectangular frame within, for example, an aperture in a bulkhead.
