Abstract

1407200 Fluidifier for steelmaking slag BRITISH STEEL CORP 5 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971 17 April 1972] 56883/71 and 17626/72 Headings C7D and C7M An additive for the slag in a steel-making furnace comprises a particulate admixture of hydroboracite (CaO.MgO.3B 2 O 3 .6H 2 O), fluorspar, and optionally lime. The fluorspar is present up to 95 per cent of the total weight of the hydroboracite and fluorspar. The additive is suitable for use in basic oxygen furnaces and electric arc furnaces.
