1406799 Toys L DU BOIS AZAD 25 Aug 1972 [26 May 1971] 17181/71 Heading A6S [Also in Division D1] A toy animal or a doll formed at least partly of sheet material includes at least one seam joining adjacent sheet material edges, the seam consisting of a line of stitches spaced inwards from but extending in the same direction as each of the two edges of the joined sheet material, and a third line of stitching lacing together the first two lines of stitches. In one form, a doll consists of a back panel, Fig 2, with a marked sewing line extending along its main edges, through which a line of running stitches are made. A second line of running stitches may be over-sewn onto the first, to make an apparently continuous thread line. A front panel, Fig 3, is similarly provided with a marked sewing line, which is sewn in the same way. The edges of the two panels outside the lines of stitches are bent inwards, to form lips which can fit together. With the lips so engaged, zig-zag stitching Z, Fig 1, is used to connect the front and back panels. An elliptical base panel, Fig 4 (not shown), having a similar sewing line marked adjacent its edge, is sewn to a like panel, stuffed, and strengthened with cardboard. The base so made is sewn into the open bottom of the doll, which also is stuffed. In another form, a sheet is marked for arms 4, 5, Fig 6, legs 6, 7, &c to be cut-out and then sewn together, the arms, &c being sewn to the trunk 8, 9, of the doll. The marked sewing lines may be formed by lines of holes. The sheet material may be paper coated with plastics, and the sewing material may be wool or cotton.
