Abstract

Two garment panels are superimposed on top of one another and the edges of the panels are secured together by an overlock stitch of a yarn whose colour contrasts with that of the panels. The panels are then opened out such that they lie in the same plane and such that the stitched edges project perpendicularly from the panels; the stitched edges are then folded flat against one panel and stitched to by a normal line of stitching. The method is simpler (and therefore cheaper) than conventional methods of producing decorative raised steams.
