Abstract

1324175 Stitched seam SINGER CO 22 Oct 1970 [28 Oct 1969] 50159/70 Heading D1G A stitched seam uniting the edges of two plies 11, 12 of fabric comprises in row 13 of securing stitches passing through the plies parallel to the edges thereof and a pair of edge covering threads 17, 19 each formed with successive loops 18, 18' and 20, 20' embracing thread in the row 13 of stitches and between successive loops each edge covering thread extending over the edge of a respective one of the plie, the loops alternately embracing thread thread in said row 13 of securing stitches between the two plies of fabric. As shown, the seam joining the plies comprises Type 401 stitches using threads 14 and 16, the upper ply has its edge bound with thread 17 having loops 18, 18' concatenated with portions 15 of the thread 14, those portions also concatenating loops 20, 20' of thread 19 binding the lower edge.
