Abstract

1404851 Screwdrivers D N BROMAGE 22 Jan 1973 [22 Jan 1972 16 Feb 1972 27 June 1972] 3138/72 7121/72 and 30024/72 Heading B3N A screw driver comprises a handle 1 having a blade 2 or means to receive a bit, and a turning lever 3 connected to the handle extending radially thereof. The lever is pivoted at 5 and can fit into groove 6. Alternatively the screw driver may comprise a shaft 9 having at one end a blade or means, chuck 10, adapted to receive a bit 2, a lever 3 connected to and extending radially of the shaft, and a handle 1 rotatable on the shaft. The lever is pivoted to the shaft by a radius arm 12 and pivot means 13, Fig. 4, and can pivot into a recess 6. In the recess the lever locks the handle to the shaft. The embodiment of Fig. 1 may have a bore in the handle with a recess at its top for accommodating the lever. The lever can then be pivoted to align with the bore and be pushed thereinto. In a further embodiment the lever 3 is rigidly fixed to a drive shaft.
