Abstract
1279052 Impact wrenches ATLAS COPCO AB 21 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 44808/70 Heading B3N A reversible impact motor comprises a housing 18, an anvil 20 having opposed impact surfaces 26, 27, a hammer body 28, an impact dog 32, cam means 35 on the impact dog, a rotatable driving member 38 in camming engagement with the impact dog for rotating the hammer body and pivoting the impact dog to a release position, and a cam body 44 co-operating with the cam means 35 and being rotatably supported on said anvil between two rotational end positions (determined by a pin 47) for pivoting in each end position the impact dog to an impact position. The driving member 38 has a flange 39 with cam surfaces 40, 41 and the cam body 44 is rotatably mounted in a recess in the end of the anvil 20 and on a centring pivot 23. In operation, from a position as shown in Fig. 3 with the flange 39 being rotated clockwise, cam surface 40 moves the impact dog 32 into a release position as shown in Fig. 6. The driving member, hammer body and impact dog now rotate together until the position shown in Fig. 8 is reached. A cam crest 48 on the cam body 44 pivots the cam means 35 and hence the impact dog into an impact position so that the back portion 33 of the impact dog engages anvil impact surface 26. In a modification, Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown), the cam body 44 is mounted in a substantially triangular recess (49) and has an angularly shaped lug (51) for co-operation therewith.
