Abstract

1404785 Jet looms NISSAN MOTOR CO LTD 10 Oct 1972 [13 Oct 1971]. 46710/72. Heading DIE In a jet loom two or more nozzles 16a, 16b are provided which are selectively movable into a position A where they can insert a weft and clamps 24a, 24b which normally hold the weft and can be selectively opened when the respective nozzle is located in the picking position. In Fig 1 a cam 44 oscillates, a lever 50 which drives a ratchet 68 through a bar 58. A cam attached to the ratchet drives, through a lever 84 pivoted at 86, a block 14 carrying the nozzles towards and away, from the position A. The lever 84 also locates a member 40 adjacent the weft clamp 24a, 24b corresponding to the nozzle in position A the clamp being opened by the member 40 which is driven from cam 26. Weft selection is achieved from a pattern chain 102 which acts on a pivoted lever 110 which can raise or lower a rod 116 to engage or disengage the rod 58 from the bar 50. If the lever is lifted the drive to cam 70 is interrupted and the weft inserting nozzles and the yarn clamps remain in the condition they were in previously. Weft measuring and storing: A substantially identical cam and drive arrangement (Fig 3 not shown) to that previously described causes a clamp 134 to be moved to locate one weft to be positioned between its respective pair of feed rollers 128a, 124a or 128b, 124b so that the weft is fed to a suction storage tube 144, the arrangement being such that when one weft is between its pair of rollers the other weft is not.
