Abstract

1404279 Hearing aids AMBITEX CORP and CENDEV CORP [trading as AMBITEX CO] 2 July 1973 [24 July 1972] 31433/73 Heading H4J An acoustic amplifying system, such as a hearing aid, has a microphone 24 electrically coupled through a phase-inverting amplifier 26 to a loud-speaker 27, their diaphragms being acoustically coupled by an adjustable 32 communicating passage 31 of length less than one quarter wavelength of the highest frequency to be handled, thereby providing variable overall negative acoustic feedback to improve linearity and reduce distortion. The amplifier has negative feedback to compensate the combined -24 db./octave roll-off of the microphone and loud-speaker to an overall -6 db./octave roll-off above 5 KHz.
