Abstract

1,031,145. Loud-speaker circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 23, 1964 [June 26, 1963], No. 25896/64. Heading H4J. The diaphragm of a loud-speaker driven by a circuit arrangement including an amplifier is connected to a transducer which delivers a voltage corresponding to the acceleration of the diaphragm and this voltage is fed back degeneratively to the input of the circuit arrangement. Between the input of the circuit arrangement and the loud-speaker is a first network which emphasizes low audio-frequencies below the loud-speaker resonance frequency. In the negative feedback circuit between the transducer and the input of the circuit arrangement is a second network which attenuates high audio frequencies having a wavelength below half the perimeter of the loud-speaker. The transducer is preferably piezo-electric. The arrangement permits the diaphragm to move so that the sound pressure is proportional to the input signal over a given frequency band. The input signal at terminal 1 (Fig. 6) is amplified by a cascade amplifier 9, 10 and passes via first network I emphasizing low audio frequencies, to an amplifier 11 and loud-speaker 3. Sub -audio-frequency signals are reduced by a negative feedback path including a capacitor 31 and resistor 32. The loud-speaker 3 is provided with a piezoelectric transducer 4 and the output voltage from this is applied to the control electrode of a field effect transistor 20 which produces at its output 21 a voltage at a reduced impedance level. Transistor 20, together with resistors 22, 23, 24 are preferably incorporated in the loudspeaker 3. The transistor output voltage is applied to the second network II which integrates and thereby attenuates signals of wavelength below half the perimeter of the loud-speaker.
