Abstract

1404109 Folding and cutting webs HOBEMA MASCHINENFABRIK HERMANN H RATHS 11 Oct 1973 [11 Oct 1972 14 Sept 1973] 47556/73 Heading B8E A web 2, Fig. 1, fed from a roll 1 is turned by a device 3 into a vertical plane and then zig-zag folded by cylinders 5 into a stack 8a. The folded edges of the laps are then cut off by band cutters 6a, 6b, the cutting bands being at right-angles to the laps and spaced apart by a distance less than the length of the laps. In another form, Fig. 2, the sides of the stack 8a are engaged by serrated rollers 10a, 10b rotating slightly faster than the cylinders 5 so as to compress the stack as it approaches the cutters. The resulting stack 8b in both forms comprises separate unfolded sheets and bears against a movable plate 12.
