Abstract

1403961 Treatment of hides D POLVARA 13 Feb 1973 [17 Feb 1972] 6994/73 Heading C6C A machine for nailing and drying hides includes a drying oven 2 and guide rails for a plurality of expandable frames 6 for supporting and stretching out skins, first guide rails 3 being provided above the drying oven, second 4, and third 5, guide rails being located inside the oven on different planes and extending substantially parallel to the first guide rails, there being located at the ends of the guide rails kinematic assemblies 19 and 20 arranged to transfer the frames from the first guide rails to the second and third guide rails and vice versa, means being provided for expanding and contracting the expandable frames so as to stretch and relax skins supported thereon and means being provided for automatically opening grips connected to the frames for gripping the skins. The expandable frames include a fixed part with two axles, to the ends of which wheels arranged to run on the guide rails are rotatably mounted and a mobile part slidably associated with the axles by way of a rack provided with locking and disengagement members; and the means for expanding and contracting the frames is a hydraulic jack to which is connected a fork arranged to engage with the mobile part of one of the frames in order to move it away or towards the fixed part so as to stretch or relax a skin fixed to the frame.
