Abstract

<PICT:1002148/C1/1> <PICT:1002148/C1/2> The rollers transporting a ribbon of glass during treatment are mounted on a support so as to be axially displaceable without interfering with the movement of the ribbon. The rollers are carried in bearings 7, 8, 9, 10 adjustable in the frame 13 of the machine, the bearings 8, 10 being also detachable from the frame. The upper roller is supported on a beam 11, pivoted on a pin 12 in the frame, by means of a carriage 19 running on tracks 17 on the beam and formed with a fixed and a movable jaw 21, 22 constituting a bearing for the roller. The lower roller can be lowered, out of contact with the glass, into a trough 28 slidable on tracks 24 on the machine frame. To remove the rollers, they are withdrawn from contact with the glass sheet, the bearings 8, 10 are detached from the frame, and the rollers are pulled out axially, the upper roller being supported by extensions 32 of the trunnion running on grooved wheels 34 on trestles 33. Winches 29, 291 are provided to facilitate removal of the rollers.
