Abstract

1403465 Diffusion pumps BALZERS PATENT & BETEILIGUNGS AG 10 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 17092/73 Heading F1E [Also in Division F4] The baffles 6, 7 of a cold trap of a diffusion pump are cooled by means disposed in a container 9 which is surrounded by a further container 10, the space between the containers being connected by flanged pipes 12, 13 to the vacuum chamber 1. The container 9 as shown, contains liquefied gas and is connected to a rod 5 which extends through the pipes 12, 13 into thermal contact with a tube 8 in heat transfer arrangement with the baffles 6, 7. Alternatively the container 9 may comprise means for circulating cooling fluid through a hollow member projecting through the pipes 12, 13.
