Abstract

1403087 Fusible cut-outs WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 25 Aug 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 39791/72 Heading H2G A high voltage fuse comprises one or more fusible elements 30 in an insulating tube 20 one or more insulating members 40 on each element being formed of highly compressed material pressed on the element, the material being such that it evolves a gas or water vapour and is substantially non-trading in the presence of an arc. A pulverulent arc quenching material is disposed in the tube. The member 40 may be of boric acid or calcium carbonate. A ball 36 of low melting point material may be provided on the or each element.
