Abstract

1402519 Paper-making apparatus ESCHER WYSS GmbH 1 April 1974 [17 April 1973] 14311/74 Heading D2A In a headbox in which at least one part 10 of the upper slice lip is pivotally mounted such that the slice opening can be varied in size, the means for adjusting the position of the part 10 comprises a rod 20 extending parallel to the pivot axis and connecting rods 33 pivotally attached to the rod 20 and to the part 10, e.g. by pivot pins 30 and spherical bearings 37 respectively, such that longitudinal movement of the rod 20 in bearings 21 causes a lateral movement of the ends of the rods 33 connected to the rod 20 and thus pivoting of the slice lip part 10. A part 8 of the slice lip on which the part 10 is pivotally mounted may also be adjustable in the same manner. The rod 20 is preferably formed at one end with an external thread 22 engaged in a socket 23 coupled to a pin 25 such that longitudinal movement of the rod 20 may be effected by rotation of the pin. If the connecting rods 33 are formed, as shown, With threaded pins 32, 34 their lengths may be easily adjusted.
