Abstract

1402450 Door operating mechanism P LAMBERET 3 Aug 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 36254/ 72 Heading E2M [Also in Division B7] A door is opened by successive displacements perpendicular and parallel to its plane, the first displacement including a pivoting movement. The door carries upper and lower brackets 13, 14 at one edge 9, the brackets having rollers 15, 19, 22 running in rails 17, 24, 25. First and second portions of the rails are respectively oblique and parallel to the wall 4. A shaft 41 is pivoted to the other edge 12 of the doorway and has brackets 39, (39') pivotally carrying support carriages 37, (37') with rollers 34, 35 engaging in grooves 36, (36') across the door. A lower bracket (31, Fig. 9, not shown) on the door adjacent edge 12 has rollers (26, 28) running in rectilinear rails (32, 33). To open the door, catch 45 is released and a spring acting on shaft 41 pivots door edge 12 outwardly. The door is then slid along adjacent the exterior face of wall 4, edge 12 being supported by lower rollers (26, 28) whilst carriage rollers 34, 35 run in grooves 36, (36') and rollers 15, 19, 22 on edge 9 run in rails 17, 24, 25.
