Abstract

1401442 Diaphragm pumps HENDERSON PUMPS & EQUIPMENT Ltd 30 Oct 1972 [30 July 1971] 36043/71 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2 ] A diaphragm pump, e.g. for bilge water, comprises a diaphragm 9, Fig.1, secured to a housing 10 and reciprocated by a handle 6, check valvecontrolled inlet and outlet connections 13 and 14 communicating with the housing, the outlet check valve comprising a member 30, Fig.7, of neoprene or nitrile rubber with a tubular portion 32 which extends into the outlet pipe and a flange 31 which fits within recesses in the housing. Tubular portion 32 has three triangular-section recesses 33 in its side walls increasing in section towards its end 34 to define slits in a star configuration. In the rest position, the slits are closed, the pump delivery pressure opening the slits to form a substantially circular opening.
