Abstract

1401403 Shearing P TAPINI E TAPINI and C TAPINI 12 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 33502/73 Heading B3W [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for the automatic, intermittent feed of metal bars 7 to a heating furnace 1 and shears 2 located behind it in alignment with the mouth 3 of the furnace comprises a guide track 5 located upstream of the furnace having rollers to form a slide surface and mounting a truck 8 which is reciprocally displaceable by a fluid actuated piston and cylinder unit 9, 10 and which carries vertically opposed pairs of locking elements of V-form activated by cylinder and piston units 15, 15<SP>1</SP> ... 18, 18<SP>1</SP> with each pair engaging a metal bar to be displaced towards and from the furnace and shears. Displacement of the truck, locking elements and shears is controlled by micro-switches and electrically controlled valves to ensure synchronized distribution of the pressure fluid in the various cylinder and piston units associated therewith. An adjustable stop device 26 downstream of the shears controlled by a valve 30 checks and limits the displacement of the bar to be cut, and the device has an associated micro-switch 27 in the electric circuit energizing the valve 25 to control the shears 2 and a pressure bar 23 associated therewith.
