Abstract

1406551 Feeding sheet material MOELLER & NEUMANN GmbH 10 Nov 1973 52270/73 Heading B3W For cutting a predetermined length from a sheet 22 advanced through a transverse shear 1, 2 on to a tiltable table 5, the actual length downstream of the shear is measured and compared with the predetermined length. If an error signal occurs indicating that the actual length is shorter than the predetermined length, the sheet is clamped to the table, e.g. by magnets 23 moved against the underside of the sheet by hydraulic cylinders 25, and the table is displaced longitudinally away from the shear by cylinder 18 until the control length equals the predetermined length. The shear is then actuated. Measuring rollers 4 are supplemented by rollers 28 for use when the trailing edge of the sheet has left the rollers and before the predetermined length is reached. The table 5 has drivable rollers 11 which take over the sheet feeding from two laterally spaced pairs of drive rollers 3 and are stopped when the sheet is clamped to the table 5. Tie rods 10 moving in synchronism with the upper blade holder 1 pivot levers 9 to tilt the table end nearer the shear downwardly, the other end running on rollers 6 on a track 7. A section 13 of a delivery table bridging the gap between the tiltable table 5 and a fixed section 12 is downwardly pivotable by cylinders 17 to allow the longitudinal displacement of the tiltable table 5. The tiltable table is also moved longitudinally to allow scrap lengths to fall on to a shoot 20. A mechanical drive may be provided in addition to the hydraulic cylinder 18, both being disconnectible to allow the other to operate alone. The supply of pressure for the longitudinal displacement of the table may be automatically stopped when the predetermined feed length is achieved.
