Abstract

1401176 Steam turbines M S AKHTAR 26 Sept 1972 [26 June 1971] 30047/71 Heading F1T To prevent entrained water from collecting on the surfaces of guide blades in a turbine operating with wet steam, the guide blades are heated to a temperature higher than the saturation temperature of the wet steam entering the blades. The heating of the blades, e.g. to a temperature of 50- 200‹ F above the saturation temperature, may be effected by steam or hot oil supplied to ducts in the blade interiors or by electric elements embedded in the blades adjacent the concave surfaces.
