Abstract

1479682 Utilizing geothermal heat J E TAVIP 16 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 31483/74 Heading F4U [Also in Division F1] In apparatus for the simultaneous use of geothermal and hydrodynamic energy one or more turbines 5 are mounted in a well or chimney 1 in the earth's crust to which water is conveyed from a supply 3 at the earth's surface to drive the turbine and generate electricity, the water thereafter passing to a lower region 11 for evaporation due to geothermal heat. The generated steam V may pass upwardly through the well to a point of utilization or additional conduits independent of the chimney may be utilized. A series of turbines may be vertically spaced within the well each serially supplied with water from the single source.
