Abstract

1400309 Tufting machine SINGER CO 6 Feb 1973 [8 March 1972] 5820/73 Heading DIG A tufting machine looper 42 comprises a shank 46 provided with a plurality of bills (two, 54, 56 as shown), one 54 of which is laterally offset with respect to another 56 of the bills. The looper is employed in a fine guage lifting machine (Fig 1 not shown) having a needle bar (14) provided with two rows 16, 16' of needles which are offset relatively to each other, so that bills 56 and 54 of adjacent loopers co-operate respectively with needles of rows 16, 16' respectively. Each shank 46 is accommodated in a slot 44 in looper bar 40, a protrusion 48 on the shank aiding the positioning and holding of the looper.
