1399874 Doors for cooking appliances CREDA ELECTRIC Ltd 12 Oct 1972 [23 Oct 1971] 49344/71 Heading A4D A door for a cooking appliance comprises front and rear transparent panels 1,2 and a passageway extending from a lower to an upper edge of the door to permit air-flow between the panels which are mounted so as to be relatively movable away from one another to permit cleaning of their inner faces. The front panel I is secured by adhesives to surfaces 7 of spacers 3,4 the rear panel sliding in channels 6 therein having lower ends closed by formations 11 on plugs 9 fitted in members 5 of spacers 3,4. At least the panel 1 may have trim strips 12 on its upper and lower edge, trim strips 13 covering lateral edges of both panels. Vertical bores in plugs 8,9 of the member 5 of spacer 3 allow hinging of the door to the cooking appliance. At least panel 2 may be tinted to permit viewing of the appliance interior only when the appliance is illuminated internally. A handle may be releasably fitted by a screw to panel 1. The panels 1,2 may be mounted in a metal frame rendering part of the door front area opaque. In alternative constructions the panel 2 may be hinged relative to panel 1 and have a retaining catch on one spacer, or the panel 2 may be releasably attached by latches on both spacers 3,4 so as to be movable in a direction perpendicularly away from panel 1.
