Abstract

1398854 Liquid heaters G M PRIEST 20 June 1972 [1 April 1971] 8467/71 Heading F4A In a heater for heating a primary liquid by burning a fuel in a radiant section 1 and passing the hot products of combustion in heat exchange relationship with the primary liquid flowing through passages in a convection section 2 of the apparatus (indicated by double-headed arrows), a secondary heat transfer liquid is circulated by a pump 5 through an air pre-heater heat exchanger 6 to a third heat exchanger 3 situated above the convection section 2. The products of combustion flow through tubes 9 in the heat exchangers 2 and 3. Baffles 10 are provided within the heat exchanger shell 11. A temperature sensitive probe may be inserted in the stack 4, the probe being connected to means for automatically adjusting the rate of heat abstraction in the means for heating the secondary liquid. An expansion tank 8 is provided for the secondary liquid.
