Abstract
1398703 Feeding hoppers LINDEMANN MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 22 Jan 1974 2892/74 Heading B8S A hopper 1 for storing rubbish prior to processing, comprises an upright rectangular sectioned container 2, 3, 4, at least one duct including a feed ram 6 arranged to reciprocate within the duct, and a camber 11 leading from the duct laterally into the container adjacent its base. The upper and lower surfaces 12, 13 of the chamber are both upwardly inclined and diverge away from each other towards the container so that in use, rubbish introduced into the duct is compressed and forced by the ram along the duct and at an upward inclination through the chamber into the container. The base of the container 2, 3, 4 may be either, inclined, as shown by line 15, or horizontal as shown by line 5, in which latter case, the rubbish initially fed into the container, falls into a sump 14 and forms its own inclined surface 15 along which subsequent rubbish passes. The rubbish fed into each duct through an aperture 9, is compressed into the chamber 11 where it is given an upward component of force and expands with divergence of the chamber to prevent gravitation back down the chamber. The hopper is unloaded by independent means, from its open top.
