1397218 Photographic antistatic agents FUJI PHOTO FILM CO LTD 29 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 55536/73 Heading G2C 'Photographic silver halide materials contain as an antistatic agent in any layer a polymer consisting essentially of recurring units of the formula:- where R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or alkyl e.g. nonyl, R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl e.g. octyl, nonyl or dodecyl, R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen or methyl, M is hydrogen or a cation e.g. Na or K, x has a value from 0 to 50, y is 0, 2 or 3 and z is 0 or 1. The polymer preferably has a value of x other than zero e.g. 2-30 and may be present in a surface or internal layer or coated on to the surface of the materials. When the polymer is present in a backing layer, excessive slip of the material is also reduced.
