Abstract

1,243,744. Photographic bleach-out materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Feb. 6, 1969 [Feb. 8, 1968], No. 6449/69. Heading G2C. A photographic bleach-out composition comprises a coloured dithiolium salt and a compound containing a thiocarbonyl group as a bleaching agent. Specified bleaching agents are thiourea and derivatives thereof. The dithiolium salt may be a 5-aryl-1, 2-dithiolium salt, a 4-aryl-1, 3-dithiolium salt, a 5-alkyl-1, 3-benzodithiolium salt, a 4, 5- dihydro-1, 3-dithiolium salt or a bis(-5-alkyl-1, 3-benzodithiolium) alkene salt. The composition may be coated on a support, imagewise exposed to bleach the coloured layer in the exposed areas and stabilized by washer. A binder may be added before coating.
