Abstract

1357583 Photographic antistatic layers FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 41307/71 Heading G2C Photographic light-sensitive silver halide materials having improved antistatic properties contain in one or more layers an antistatic combination comprising an anionic polymer having a side-chain comprising a carboxyl group or an alkali-metal salt thereof and at least one of a cationic surface active agent and a betaine surface-active agent, the antistatic combination being present in an amount of from 0À1g to 2À0g per Kg of total coating composition used for making the layer or layers containing said antistatic combination. The polymer and surface active agent may be in separate layers or in the same layer which may be the emulsion layer. Polymers include sodium alginate, poly(vinyl succinate), poly(vinyl phthalate), polyacrylic acid and copolymers of acrylic acid or of maleic acid such as copoly(acrylamide/acrylic acid). Surface active agents include N-octadecyl-N:N:N- tris(2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium chloride, N- tetradecyl-N:N-dimethyl-N-benzyl-ammonium chloride and N-tetradecyl-N:N-di(polyoxyethylene) -N-α-acetic acid betaine.
