Abstract

1339960 Polymer compositions; gelatine AGFA-GEVAERT AG 19 April 1971 [12 March. 1970 23 Jan 1971] 23492/71 Headings C3P C3G and C3H [Also in Division G2] A gelatine-containing solution or an antistatic layer in a photographic silver halide material comprises, as antistatic agent, in the form of a mixture and/or graft copolymer (1) a polymer of at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer which polymer has a mol. wt. of at least 10,000 and contains sulpho groups in free or neutralized form, and (2) a polymer having a molecular weight of at least 10,000 and in which at least 50 mole per cent of the units contain carboxy groups in free or neutralized form. Preferably (1) is Na polystyrene sulphonate or an N-substituted maleimide copolymer formed by reacting a mono- or di-sulpho aniline with an optionally sulphonated copolymer of (a) maleic anhydride and (b) styrene, ethylene or isobutylene, and (2) is polyacrylic acid or copoly(methacrylic acid/hydroxypropyl methacrylate).
