Abstract

1396939 Space heating or cooling units BENTELER-WERKE AG 22 Sept 1972 [25 Sept 1971] 44019/72 Heading F4V A space heating or cooling unit comprises a louvred housing 10 containing a conduit 42 supplied with room air by a transverse flow fan 4, a conduit 5 communicating with the external atmosphere and meeting the conduit 42 at an angle, rectangular flaps 7, 17 fixedly mounted relative to one another on a pivotal shaft 6 for controlling the air flow through the conduits 42, 5, and a heating or cooling heat exchanger 2. The flaps 7, 17 may be rotated to the positions shown in heavy, faint and dash-dot lines in which respectively room air is exhausted to atmosphere, room air only is recirculated through the housing 10, and the flow of recirculated room air induces airflow through the conduit 5, or to any intermediate position. The fan inlet is provided with a filter or grille 41, and a filter is positioned in or at the inlet end of the conduit 5. The shaft 6 is rotatable by a hand wheel, optionally via a worm and worm-wheel transmission. The housing 10 may be closed or, as shown, open at its rear and hung on a wall. The flaps 7, 17 are held in their adjusted positions by arresting means 37 or by the friction in said transmission.
