Abstract

1396861 Treating polyhydroxylated polymers INSTITUT TEXTILE DE FRANCE 17 July 1972 [16 July 1971] 33382/72 Addition to 1286535 Heading D1B Polyhydroxylated polymer fabric e.g. cotton is treated by (a) drawing a design thereon by local application of an aqueous paste containing an epoxypropyl ammonium salt of formula in which R, R' and R" are C 1 to C 3 alkyl groups, X- is an anion and a non-hydroxyla'ted thickening agent (b) thermofixing the material at 100-120‹C by ironing, (c) washing and rinsing the thermofixed article with water. (d) immersing the fabric in a neutral dyeing bath containing a fibre-reactive dye derived from cyanuryl chloride, acid dyes, metalliferous 2/1 complex dyes, patholocyanine dyes and direct dyes, followed by washing and drying. The aqueous paste may be applied by means of a brush, pad, stencil or printing frame, preferably at least 8% by weight of epoxypropyl ammonium salt is used in the paste, which contains preferably at least 4% by weight of thickening agent. The invention also provides a kit containing the dyes, epoxypropyl ammonium salt, beaker thickening agent, graduated cylinder, bottles and spatula.
