1396360 Dung remover ALFA LAVAL AB 20 Sept 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 43558/72 Heading A1M A dung remover comprises scrapers 5 located in a dung channel 1 and hingedly connected to a pivot 6 connected to a guide piece 4, of U shaped cross-section, moved intermittently in the direction of its longitudinal axis by a bar 7 within a groove 3. Movement in the operating direction, arrow A, swings the scrapers 5 away from each other to extend across the width of the dung channel 1, while the reverse movement causes them to converge at the central groove 3. The guide piece 4 is moved incrementally by reciprocating motion of the bar 7. Motion of the bar 7 in a direction C results in a roller 17 carried by the guide piece moving up a cam face 14 formed in a clamp body 10 to lock guide piece 4 to the bar 7 so that guide piece 4 and pivot 6 move with the bar 7. When the bar 7 moves in the direction of an arrow D, the roller 17 moves down the cam face 14 freeing the guide piece 4 from the bar 7. The direction of travel of the scrapers is reversed when the guide piece 4 reaches a stop 23 and further movement in the direction of arrow C is prevented. Movement of the bar 7 in the same direction forces the roller 17 over to the cam slope 15. Further reciprocating action of the bar 7 results in the guide piece 4 moving incrementally in the direction of arrow D. An alternative embodiment shown in Fig. 5, positions the guide piece 4 with respect to the roller 17 by plate springs 24. The clamping action resulting from relative movement between the roller 17 and the body 11 is accentuated by the raising of the guide piece 4 as the plate springs 24 deflect. The action of the plate springs 24 results in easier loosening of the clamping forces on reversal of the direction of motion of the bar 7.
