Abstract
1396067 Magnetrons RAYTHEON CO 12 Sept 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 42925/73 Heading H1D A multicavity magnetron with anode 14 has permanent magnets 96 and 98 connected by axially spaced magnetic plates 84 and 86, and cooling fins 104 contacting the side wall of the anode and partially surrounding the magnets, the plates 84 and 86 being rectangular with bevelled corners to form tapered edges 88, which edges are substantially longer than the remaining portions of the narrow sides of the rectangle, and correspond as closely as possible to the surfaces of the magnets, which are cylindrical as described. Unwanted radiation is suppressed by a braided gasket 90 around the antenna dome 46, and by a by-pass capacitor and ferrite rings housed with the cathode leads within the perforated box 78. Air 106 is driven by a fan through the cooling fins.
