Abstract

1395983 Filtering ash from flue gases STOCKDALE ENG LTD 24 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 18771/72 Heading B1T An apparatus for filtering hot ash from flue gases has a plurality of cylindrical ceramic filter cartridges in each of a plurality of filter chambers 11, and the cartirdges are cleaned by a reverse flow of compressed air from reservoir 15, down hollow shaft 8 and via rotating elbow pipe 10 to each successive duct 13a leading to the outlet side of its respective filter chamber 11. Normal filtered air flow is up ducts 13a and through rotating chambers 13 and exit parts 6 to duct 7 drawn by a suction fan. The speed of rotation of elbow pipe 10 and chamber 3 across wear plate 4 may be controlled manually or automatically by presure differential and a variable gear. As elbow pipe 10 aligns with each duct 13a, a lug 18 on gear 9 opens a diaphragm valve 10a to pass a blast of air from reservoir 15 into shaft 8 and pipe 10. Dust is removed into hopper 16 (Fig 4, not shown).
